Spring Break on Jekyll Island

Like the rest of the Nation, we too are cutting back on costs.....so, for Spring Break we took a camping trip!!

We camped on Jekyll Island for 5 nights and had quite the adventure! Jekyll Island is the perfect family vacation spot for those outdoor enthusiasts! They have endless biking trails, a very large fishing pier, wide open unscathed sandy beaches, put-put and history. Our usual Spring Break beach trips consist of warm, sunny days on the beach. This trip was not going to be our usual. We did enjoy some very nice weather but we also muddled through a day of rain (not so fun when you're camping), a windstorm on the beach (you've heard of sand-blasting?), and a quite chilly day (where all I did was sit cuddled up in a blanket by the fire, reading a book.) BUT, you all know how kids take things in stride and eventhough the parents may have been less than thrilled some days.......the kids didn't skip a beat! They had the time of their lives!

We camped in the campground with my brother's family, my parents, and my oldest sister's family.

So, there were LOTS of cousins to play with so we rarely even saw our children. They were always somewhere in the park on their bikes. How nice is that?!! I think they got more "fresh air" then they typically get in an entire month!! It was fantastic!

Oh, and I almost forgot.......this is the first time we took our dog, Koko, on a trip with us!

Does this look like fun or WHAT??? :-)

WOW, was that an adventure all by itself!! Koko is a full bred chocolate lab. She is the most intelligent, obedient dog I know. But, she does like to bark at racoons....which makes for a looooooong night! After one night of this nonsense, we let her sleep in the Expedition instead of the tent. That worked out great!! She couldn't hear a thing.....and neither did we :-)

Reed and Koko at the beach. Koko LOVED the water, of course!

Jared and Danny playing football on the beach.
We put over 20 miles on our bikes...not counting the kids biking all over the campgrounds!

The campground looks beautiful! May have been a little cold, but you can still tell you had a great time! You & Danny have GOT to work on Jared for me & get him to go camping sometime!!! I want to go to the Smokies!
