Over Spring Break in April we took the boys to Charleston. We had not been before but have been wanting to go for years. It is amazing how many things there are to do in Charleston!

We went to Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum

which had the 888-foot aircraft carrier Yorktown, Destroyer Laffey, the Coast Guard cutter Ingham and the submarine Clamagore along with lots of aircraft you could board.

It took most of the day just to tour all of these vessels but the boys really enjoyed it....especially Tad who loves history.

We also took a ferry to Fort Sumter, which is an island (how cool is that!) The boys really enjoyed the fort. Especially Jared, who can find fun in anything!

I think part of the fun was the ferry ride over and back which took about 30 minutes each way.

While in Charleston we also spent a day to visit the Old City Market. It's in the historical downtown district and it features small shops, restaurants and a flea market with everything from produce to antiques.

We let the boys get a little souvaneer before finding a place to eat. It was hard because there were so many good places to choose from! We settled on Bubba Gumps

. It was amazing sea food! We didn't have a lot of time left but we did manage to make it to Folly Beach before leaving town.

They have a great pier there and the beach was really nice. We'll have to take another trip when we can spend time in the sand!
